In 2024, the delivery business volume of China's postal industry completed 193.70 billion pieces

The reporter learned from the regular press conference of the State Post Bureau of China in the first quarter of 2025 on the 19th that in 2024, the delivery business of China's postal industry completed 193.70 billion pieces, an increase of 19.2% year-on-year.

Hou Yanbo, spokesperson of the State Post Bureau, introduced that in 2024, the delivery business volume of China's postal industry completed 193.70 billion pieces, an increase of 19.2% year-on-year; the industry business income completed 1.70 trillion yuan (RMB, the same below), an increase of 10.7% year-on-year. Among them, the express business volume and business income completed 175.08 billion pieces and 1.40 trillion yuan respectively, an increase of 21.5% and 13.8% year-on-year. This is the first time that China's annual express business volume exceeded 170 billion pieces.

Hou Yanbo said that the monitoring data of the State Post Bureau shows that since the beginning of the Spring Festival (January 14 to February 18), the national postal express industry has collected 15.549 billion express parcels, an increase of 29% compared with the same period of the Spring Festival in 2024; 15.969 billion express parcels were delivered, an increase of 31.1% compared with the same period of the Spring Festival in 2024.

The press conference announced seven practical things that the postal express industry will be closer to people's livelihood in 2025, including strengthening the construction of village-level delivery logistics comprehensive service stations, strengthening the implementation of express packaging standards, continuing to promote the application of mail express privacy waybill, organizing and holding postal industry class skills competitions, selecting some cities to carry out the pilot of the employment contract system in the express industry, continuously improving the quality of express services, and consolidating the results of mail in organized villages and border natural villages.

Data show that a total of 5,248 postal routes have been opened in China, and the delivery rate of organized villages has increased to 66%. 70% of the villages in the country have delivered five or more times a week, and 3,357 border natural villages in 9 provinces have basically achieved at least three deliveries a week.
